Obituary of Joan Patricia Dorrity

Joan Patricia Dorrity Loved by her Family Joan Patricia Dorrity (nee Sullivan), of Caldwell, NJ, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, with her family at her side. She was 86 years old. Family and friends may visit at the Codey & Jones Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave., Caldwell (973-226-6696) on Sunday, January 19th from 2-6 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Aloysius R.C. Church, Caldwell on Monday, January 20th at 10:00 am. The interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ. Joan was born in Eastport, ME and lived in Newark, NJ prior to moving to Caldwell in 1956. She was a graduate of Caldwell College with a bachelor degree in English. Mrs. Dorrity was a homemaker who, along with her husband Tom, raised a family of five in Caldwell. She was an active member of St. Aloysius Church where she was a member and past president of the Rosary Society and active with the church's elementary school. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, in 2008; two brothers, Msgr. Edwin V. Sullivan and Dr. John E. Sullivan; five sisters Sr. Mary J.Sullivan, Katherine Chandler, Margaret A. Bullock, W. Eugenia Farrell and Ruth M. Love. Surviving are her devoted children with their spouses, Maureen J.and Michael D'Aloia, Joanne D. and Alfred P. Josephsen, Wendy A. Dorrity, Thomas F.and Gina Dorrity, Sheila M.and Robert Carrozza; loving grandchildren Maureen Bates and her husband Todd, Paul Josephsen and his wife Janine, Gregory Josephsen and his wife Catie, Kellianne Josephsen, Bobby & Steve Carrozza, Stephanie & Jenna D'Aloia, Kate, Beth Ellen, Jackie and Danny Dorrity; cherished great grandchildren Dillon, Grace and Nora.
