World War II Veteran Richard Valentine 94, of Toms River, NJ, formerly of West Caldwell, NJ. Passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016. Born in Newark, NJ to Philip Valentino and Margaret Cardinale, Richard was one of 8 children growing up in Cedar Grove and North Caldwell, NJ. Mr. Valentine was a WWII Veteran, proudly serving in the US Navy on the Destroyer USS Champlin in the Atlantic theater and participating in the invasion of Sicily. Rich was a co-owner of Pine Brook Auto Wreckers and R.W Valentine Auto Wreckers in Montville, NJ before his retirement in 2004. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Clare M. (nee Courter); a son, Gregory; siblings, John Valentino, Dominick Valentine, Celia McKenzie, Anthony, Geralamo, Louis, and Bill Valentine. Surviving are his devoted sons, Richard of Whippany, NJ and Thomas of Athens, GA; loving daughter-in-laws, Judy and Debbie; cherished grandchildren, Jessica Anne, Thomas, Samuel and Harold Valentine; and longtime companion, Barbara Jones.
