Obituary of Rachel Julia Rotter

Lived a Remarkable 106 Years Rachel Julia Rotter, of Fairfield, NJ, passed away at home on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. Visitation will be held at the Codey & Jones Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Avenue, Caldwell, NJ on Sunday, August 7th from 2-6 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Caldwell United Methodist Church, 8 Academy Road, Caldwell, NJ on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 11:00am. Born in Greenwich Village, NY to Carlo Errico and Louisa Pascale, Rachel lived in several places before moving to Fairfield in 1952. Rachel was very happy being a homemaker and together with her husband ran the family farm and farm stand on Hollywood Avenue in Fairfield. In addition to raising a family she worked outside the home in several jobs, including before she married she worked at Waterman Pen in Newark and an assembler at the Edison Co. in West Orange. She was very active until she was a 100! Entertaining guests, caring for her home and pets, ballroom dancing with her husband, John, collecting stuffed animals and her favorite hobby of crocheting. Rachel was an inspiration to many with her can do spirit and loving ways. To quote her daughter, Louise, "she was the best neighbor anyone could ever have!" Mrs. Rotter was a devoted member of the Caldwell United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John; devoted son, Jack; dear brothers, Fred, Albert and August Errico; and loving sisters, Anna Napoliello and Margaret Tester. Surviving are her devoted daughter, Louise Woodcox and her husband, Jefferson; dedicated daughter-in-law, Eileen Rotter; loving sister, Johanna Britsman; also 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
