Beloved Husband and Father James William "Jim" Ness, 73, of North Caldwell, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 23, 2017, with his children by his side. Jim was born in Kearny, NJ to James Edward and Olive (Jones) Ness. He grew up in Verona, NJ and has lived in North Caldwell with his family since 1979. He was a municipal bond trader for many years with the First National State Bank in Newark and later with Powell Capital Markets in Roseland. He attended Bridgeport University and was an active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and the Rock Spring Country Club. Jim was known for his dry sense of humor and kind disposition and was dedicated to his work and family. He treasured his summers at the Jersey Shore, playing golf, and a steady dose of Giants & Yankee games. He was also an active member and former President of The Bond Club of New Jersey. He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Rita Ness and his devoted children, James Cory Ness and Erin Ness and her husband Chris; sister Deborah and her husband Alex; sister-in-law Theresa and her husband Donald; nieces and nephews Scott, Geoffrey, Stephen, Jennifer and Rebecca; and grand-dogs Molly and Bowie. Final interment will be held privately by the family. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 1:00pm at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 271 Roseland Avenue, Essex Fells, 07021. A reception will follow at Saint Peter's.
