My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. My heart was broken when I heard the news last Sunday. I was a patient of Jan's for 11 years, and when I was first diagnosed and was so scared, Dr. Huston spent 2 hours with my Mom and me, and the first thing she said to me was, "You will be fine." I have been eternally grateful. The kindness and compassion Jan has shown to everyone she met will never be forgotten. She was truly an Angel on earth. Peace be with you Jan, and for sure you are an Angel in heaven still watching over us.

My deepest condolences to the Huston-Pryor Family,
I was a patient of Dr. Huston's. I will always remember my first appointment with her after my cancer diagnosis. I was trying to make sense of it all and she told me that my cancer was not a threat to my survival. That sentence, and the warmth and care she shared with me that day and every time I saw her, made all the difference in my outlook with my surgery and treatment. I was even more amazed when I learned that she and her husband had twelve children. She was a gifted surgeon and doctor and an incredibly loving and giving woman in every sphere of her life. She will live on in the hearts of those who were honored to know and love her.

Our beloved Jon, Amy, Lupita, Daniella, Andrew, Ally. Julia, Tim, Jessica, Lizzy Luke. Roy. Hyat. Maeruf
We pray that the love of your Jan your friend and boss and your mom will see you through these next days, weeks and months. May that same love help you know that she will never leave you. When you think you felt her or heard her talking to you, yes her voice, know that you have not lost your minds.
This much I know for sure.
It took me what seems like forever to right myself when my mama passed away. However, when I finally got to where I now know she had wanted for me, I can hear her voice and wicked good humor and share that with her great grand kids who never had the honor of meeting her. Yes my mama was my grand mother.
Jan will leave forever because you will All tell her grand kids and their grands what a phenomenal magnificent woman she was and that is the stock they come from. For once you have been touched by someone who loves you, that hand print never dies. It lives for eternity. That is why love is more powerful than any other emotion.
As for you Jon, God has entrusted you with Jan's Empire. He knows you are up to the task. Why else would he have called on you to do such great things? He will comfort you and keep you.
In Christ love ❤️
We love you ...more. Your cousins/aunty and uncle around the bend.
As for me, Jan's life has inspired me to do more and to never give up. ❌⭕❌⭕

My deepest sympathies to your beloved family. Jan achieved so much and helped so many, in such a humble way. Every time I ran into her on a field, or at the school - she had such an open, peaceful smile and "happy to see you" expression, despite all she had going on. I could never figure out how she did all she did with such grace. But that's ok - because that's what made her Jan. <3

Jan amazed me with her ability to love and care for her family as she performed more miracles in her practice. When we provided meals from Hobcaw, her handwritten reviews of our food and recipe suggestions were one more way she gave loving care to her family's life. I will always think of Jan when I add oatmeal to meatloaf.
I know she prepared you all to live your lives without her because that is what great mothers strive to do. They are one of God's greatest blessings, and Jan was a special gift to us all. We are here to help in the small ways we can, but most of all, our family sends our love and prayers.

Shortly thereafter, I moved to Switzerland and each time I came back to visit, I was welcomed by both of you with a big hug. I also have fond memories of you welcoming Thomas & I into your home to see just how you make it all work.

For the life of me I have absoultely no recollection of Jan without that Angelic, Full, Hollywood smile etched upon her face. It was the light in the room, the approval of a job well done and the only source of comfort to those that were desperately in need of her service. True love is finding your mirror image in another and I say without pause or recrimination that Big John also has the perpetual grin, underpinned by that lantern jaw. You both are people that make this world better for being in it. The greatest legacy Jan leaves is her Family, which will ALWAYS be a testament to how she lived, SELFLESS. Our time on earth is merely preparation for the gift of everlasting life in Heaven. Jan was FULLY prepared, taking her beloved Peter Paul with her on her journey. It was so fitting in light of how she gave to everyone she met. We celebrate this AMAZING woman's life and instead of praying for her, we will now pray to her. Until we meet again beloved friend. To All The Huston Pryor Family,
There are not enough words to describe how Jan Huston Pryor affected so many people. As a patient also, I had just recently seen her and now I cherish the visit and conversation we had about life, yoga and our dogs. I remember so vividly our first meeting in 2008 to discuss surgery; I was so reassured by her demeanor, and was especially moved when I saw all the pictures of her children. She also gave the best hugs and was always so welcoming in her office.
There is now a pink chime in my backyard in memory of Jan and Peter-Paul, and I will think of them lovingly with the gentle breeze. I will miss her very much and am truly saddened.
My sincerest condolences to the Huston Pryor family. You are an extraordinary family.

I am devastated to learn of the passing of Dr. Jan Huston Pryor. Dr. Huston was my surgeon in 2004 after I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Dr. Huston's kind demeanor will always be remembered. She made time to speak with me after the diagnosis, even giving me her home phone number. As I was being anesthetized, a lone tear rolled down my check. Dr. Huston dried that tear and told me it would be alright. I will always remember that moment and forever be grateful. My prayers are for Dr. Huston's family at this very difficult time. Those who knew her will carry her smile, her love and care for each of us in our hearts and try to emanate her goodness. God's work is magnified through her and through you. To the Pryor Family,
Sincere condolences on your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this most difficult time.
I was a patient of Dr Huston's only a few years ago and was only one of the many that was blessed to have had her as a doctor. She was truly as others have said, so caring and loving. There is not enough space to write how much she meant to me during my time with her. She made a difficult time more bearable and gave us all much hope for recovery.
She will be missed by many...but she was loved by all.

I've only known Dr. Jan Houston since October 2017, I will never forget the day i left her office being diagnosed with breast cancer, she made feel like it wasn't the end of my world and I can beat this cancer. She gave me a diagram step by step. She administered so much love.....The hugs she gave I knew I was going to be ok. I spoke to her on that monday preparing me for surgery on that tuesday... Her last spoken words to me. You will do well see you @9:30.she will be truly missed.

I knew Dr. Jan Huston Pryor in the nineties while she was practicing general and vascular surgery at Millburn Surgical Associates where I was employed at the time. I will always remember her as a spunky, happy person who was full of energy and positivity, always accompanied by her glow and her smile. She was truly beloved by all her patients. Such a compassionate and talented spirit who was a lover of people and animals - gone too soon. Rest in peace Dr. Jan Huston

Jan was truly one of the nicest people that I have ever known. I had just seen her in the Mountainside parking lot two weeks ago. She was driving her metallic green SUV, a very unique bright color and totally appropriate for her as it matched her personality perfectly. She stopped as I waved to her and we spoke. She was happy, cheerful, and uplifting as usual.
I first met Jan 25 years ago. She was one of my attendings back then when I was a rotating on the vascular surgery service as a surgical intern at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. She was always very supportive to the residents and ever so patient. I never remember her ever being upset. I loved operating with her. In her eyes, I could do no wrong. I suspect she was that way with everyone. She was one of my favorite attendings, and I never forgot her spirit which was contagious.
Many years passed, and our paths crossed as colleagues. I can honestly say that her spirit, cheerfulness and love of people and life had not faded in the least. My conversations and contact with her have always been positive, cheerful, uplifting, and always have been memorable. She always left me wanting to be a better person. I will never forget her.
I would like to offer my sincerest and heat-felt condolences to her husband, children and to her entire family. I feel blessed to have known such a wonderful person.
