Obituary of Vincent Spittle

Vincent Spittle Loved His Family World War II Veteran Vincent Spittle, 91, of West Caldwell, NJ, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 9, 2017. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the Codey & Jones Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Avenue, Caldwell, NJ (973-226-6696) on Friday, October 13th from 6 - 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Aloysius R.C. Church, 219 Bloomfield Ave., Caldwell on Saturday, October 14th at 11:00 am. The interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Caldwell. Vincent was born and raised in Newark, NJ. He was the son of the late John and Agnes (Garafola) Spittle. After high school he was drafted and honorably served in the U.S. Army in World War II. In 1954 he married the love of his life, Violet and moved to West Caldwell where they raised their family. Mr. Spittle retired as the supervisor of barbers at Overbrook Hospital in Cedar Grove. He was a member of St. Aloysius Church and the Caldwell Old Guard. He enjoyed time with family and in his garden. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Violet (Rizzio); his parents and brother, Johnny. Surviving are his devoted children Vincent, Jr., with his wife Elizabeth and Joyce Spittle; loving granddaughters, and their husbands, Jennifer and Bill Reinhardt, Valarie and Dave Marrero, Kathryn and James Ammann and Christine and Danny Chirico; cherished great grandchildren.
