Beloved Brother & Friend

 

With tear filled eyes and heavy hearts the family of William N. DeStefano wants to let you know of his passing. Billy sadly took his life on Saturday, January 13, 2018. He suffered for many years from a traumatic brain injury that lead to other complications.

The celebration of Billy's life will begin with visiting on Friday, January 19th from 5-9 pm at the Codey & Jones Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave., Caldwell, NJ 07006. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, January 20th at 10:00 am in St. Aloysius R.C. Church, 219 Bloomfield Avenue, Caldwell. Billy was born in Jersey City, NJ and lived most of his life in Caldwell. He was a natural athlete involved in the wrestling and football programs at James Caldwell High School where he graduated in 1984 and at Virginia Tech where he graduated in 1989 with a computer science degree. After he graduated he moved to Switzerland to work in finance technology and to play football for the Geneva Seahawks. Upon his return to the US he was a self-employed computer analyst at the NY Stock Exchange for several years.

From his youth Billy was gifted at working with his hands. He spent countless hours working on cars in his parent's driveway, assisting a neighbor with a repair, he was always there with a helping hand. He was an avid collector of cars and motorcycles.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Louise (nee D'Andrea) DeStefano.

Surviving are his loving brother, Michael and his wife, Doreen; dear uncle, John D'Andrea and his wife, Edith; also many cherished cousins, extended family and devoted friends.
