Obituary of Lauerence S. Smith

Lauerence S. Smith, age 83, of Orange died Friday, February 9, 2018 at home in Orange. Mr. Smith was born July 25, 1934 in Newark, NJ. He is the son of the late Lester Perkins and the late Essie Rose (Soden) Smith. He was employed for many years by Salvation Army International, Orange, NJ as a Sergeant Major. Laurence was a member of St. Matthew's A.M.E. Church in Orange where he sang in the choir. He is survived by his sister, Lillian Huhn and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his two sisters and four brothers. The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Friday, February 16 at St. Matthew's A.M.E. Church, 336 Oakwood Avenue, Orange, NJ. Relatives and friends will gather at the church one hour prior to the service from 10 – 11 am.
