William’s family: I'm so sorry for your loss. I went through a similar situation and I was very helped by the hope that I found in the Bible in John 5: 28, which says, "Do not amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I am sending you a link with more information on this hope. https://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/wp20140101/

Bill was one of the first people we met at St. John's when we joined around 2004. He made us feel so welcome and his friendly, kind nature was very special. Our prayers are with Nola and the entire Nikel family at this time. Bill we be greatly missed!

My husband and I joined St. John's in 1982 but only stayed 2 years. I remember Bill so fondly as a welcoming sort. One of my favorite memories of him is one summer service he provided all the music with his saxophone. It was a delight and so was he. I am very sorry for your loss. He will be long remembered.

Dear Nola and family,
So sorry to learn of your loss. I will always remember Bill as one of the first congregants to welcome me at St. John’s, and for facilitating the nice dinners at Crane’s Mill after my mother passed away. He was such a special person to so many and we share in your grief while celebrating his life.
Best wishes to you all,
Catherine

Dear Family and Friends of Bill,
Bill was an admirable man of many accomplishments who had compassion for others, devotion to his profession, community, church and diocese, and love for his family and friends. It was my good fortune to meet Bill in 1989 at a meeting of Job Seekers held in St. John’s Church, Montclair, where he provided wise counsel, support, encouragement and companionship on a career change journey. Bill’s advice guided me to make a confident decision to leave the safety of a corporate career and transfer to the world of nonprofits. Little did I know that within two years, my life would again be blessed by Bill’s presence when I was hired by the Diocese of Newark, a nonprofit where Bill shared his time and talents as a volunteer on several committees. His commitment was admirable, steadfast and highly reliable, especially to the annual diocesan convention. For that assistance, I was always grateful and appreciative. He was a kind, gracious and gentle man who will be missed.
Please know that you and those whom you hold close to your hearts are in my prayers for God’s comforting grace.
Faithfully,
Michael Francaviglia

To Bill's Family...
So sorry to hear of Bill's passing. We shared a love of music and the Episcopal Church...I met him through St. James, Upper Montclair, and enjoyed his attendance at a number of band concerts and other recitals there, as well as meeting up at the annual Conventions of the Newark Episcopal Diocese. I play with the band that rehearses at Crane's Mill, and I'm sorry I didn't have a chance to speak with him at the rehearsal he attended, probably in November! At the time, I didn't know he was living there, and wasn't positive it was him.....just goes to show: take a chance on greeting people you may or may not know, because you may not have another opportunity.
Rest in Peace, Bill.
Blessings, Martha Boughner

Dear Nola and Family,
My heartfelt sympathy on the loss of your husband, dad and grandfather. He was truly one in a million. I was so fortunate to have had his friendship for the past six years I have been working at Crane's Mill. He was the first resident I had met, and he was instrumental in introducing me to so many community, civic and educational organizations. I will always remember him riding his bicycle around the community, and stopping by my office to bring me the news of the day. To me, he was "TM" as in team member. He always spoke with so much pride about his family -- you were all so precious to him. He has left all of us with such a void, but we were so blessed to have known this incredible man. Please know you are all in my prayers.
With sincere sympathy,
Barbara Davey
