Gary was a steadfast, loving, and loyal friend who befriended me in my Kiwanis days. His wit, humor, and perspective always brought a smile to my face. I'll always remember his spirit, big heart, and his direct "tell it like it is" demeanor. Rest in power, my friend.

Mr. Biondi was my Latin teacher for three years at Parsippany High in the 1960’s. He was my best teacher and always made us “tow the line.”
He loved teaching and was the student advisor to a large Latin Club. I remember he always had a kind and encouraging word for his students. A good man with a big heart who many of us will always be thankful to.
“Te Amo,” my Friend and Teacher!

I am so very sorry to hear of Gary's passing. My name is Abbey "Scheiner" Gallant and I met Gary when I was 4 years old. I had just moved from Verona to East Orange. I lived at 74 4th Ave., East Orange, N.J. and Gary lived next door. My Mom and Dad, Harry and Rose Scheiner, were best friends with Arthur and Anna Bionde. They played cards every month and saved the money and then went to New York to dinner. This also included Gary's Aunt and Uncle. Arthur's brother married Anna's sister and they became best friends. We spent Christmases with all the family. Jackie should remember me....I know at that time she married her cousin. I am Jewish and Gary took me to church. He was always very religious and had an alter set up in his bedroom. He would constanly babtise me....so if it's true, I have been babtised more than any other human being....such fond memories! We would be at their apt. for dinner and someone would say "Where are Abbey and Gary" and they would look in his bedroom and their I was being babitsed again! Anna, Arthur, Rose and Harry would get a good laugh! I had just mentioned Gary to my daughter yesterday and said I wanted to get in touch and this morning she found, sadly, that he had passed. I've thought of him and the family many times, but let too much time go by. Ilive in Santa Monica, California. I know I met Betty, I don't think she will remember me, after she and Gary got married. I went to their home. I think they had just had their first baby at the time, but then, sadly to say, we lost touch. I am so sorry I waited so long. I send my deepest condolences to Betty and family. Know that i hold you and Gary in my thoughts. I would love to hear from you or Jackie, if she remembers me. The Scheiner's, Bionde's and Sapienza's will remain in my heart and memories forever! I read about Gary's death in the Star Ledger. I am so sorry for you loss. It sounds as if he was very interested in the Bible. The Bible teaches us that death was not part of God's original plan. He wanted man to live forever, in perfect health, on a paradise earth. Man disobeyed God and brought about sin and death to the human race. God's plan will still be realized. Isaiah 55:11 states, "So my word that goes out of my mouth will be. It will not return to me without results, but it will certainly accomplish whatever is my delight. It will have sure success in what I send it to do." The Bible talks about a resurrection of those who have died. (Acts 24:15, John 5:28, 29) The Bible account in John 11:1-44 details a resurrection Jesus performed and which gives us the certainty that the resurrection of our loved ones will occur. The word resurrection in the Bible literally means "a standing up again" and "revival of the dead". The provision for resurrection of the dead is a magnificent expression of God's undeserved kindness. It displays his wisdom and power and is a means by which his original purpose regarding the earth and humans will be carried out. If you would like to know more about what the Bible teaches, please visit JW.org where you will find a free, online Bible Study format. Sincerely, Paula

I remember Gary from the good old East Orange days, from Our Lady of All Souls Church and Columbian playground. My home was on Springdale Avenue, a Columbian/Ampere kid. I've just recently moved back to New Jersey and started going to St. Al's Church. Sorry I wasn't there when Gary was. My prayers are with Gary and his family.

Betty Lou and Michael,
We knew Gary through Kiwanis. He spoke highly and fondly of both of you. I loved our visits during Kiwanis Conventions!
My favorite memory of Gary was his determination to complete a task he started. In particular, in 2002, when Lenny & I married, Gary wanted to secure a papal blessing for us, and he was determined to get it from John Paul, II. It took him nearly a year, b/c they kept sending him the Blessing, but their was a mistake. He persisted and on our 1st anniversary, Gary mailed it to us. It is absolutely beautiful, and I treasure it b/c of our friendship with Gary.
Holding you and the family in our thoughts and prayers,
Lenny & Cathy Simmons

Hello Betty Lou...My deepest sympathy to you and your entire family. I have nothing but the fondest memories of "Kingie" back-in-the-day at PHS. Our founding days in Key Club and trips to Montreal and Atlantic City will always be remembered. I thought of my senior year English class with you just recently and recalled giving a speech to attain a merit badge toward Eagle Scout; a very brave thing to do back then. Then, we learned of your "romance" with Gary and couldn't have been more happy for you both. Blessings, Jim Scott

Gary was my Latin Teacher at Parsippany High School for 4 years (Sept. 1964 - June 1968). Though I’ve forgotten most of the Latin that he taught me, I’ve never forgotten him. May he Rest In Peace, and may his family find some comfort from knowing that so many people remember him fondly.

My condolences to the Bionde family. He was a wonderful man and marvelous father. I had both his daughter’s in my third grade class. His work ethic, drive, friendliness and compassion were passed down to Jackie and Amy which is a parents greatest accomplishment. He always greeted you with enthusiasm and I loved his wit. Both Ed and I send our thoughts and prayers to you during this trying time. Know that he will be missed by many people. I am sure God gave him a special place in heaven!

Gary was a wonderful member of our NJ Kiwanis Family and we appreciated that his actual family shared him with us. When Barrie was Governor he so enjoyed and valued having Gary as his District Secretary especially as they toured the state. They enjoyed each others (sometimes strange) but always uproarious sense of humor. My outstanding memory of Gary was at our Kiwanis Family East conference in North Carolina where hundreds of members of the Kiwanis Family from Key Club, Circle K and Kiwanis gathered every Fall from all over the country. Saturday night of the week-end always ended with a skit put on with members of the entire 'family' that you had been with all week-end. Gary wore a skirt made of strips of newspaper that went all around his waist as he portrayed a large jellyfish!! Watching him pirouette in that 'skirt' was priceless, and greatly enjoyed by all in attendance!! I'm not sure who enjoyed it more, Gary or those at the event. We loved him dearly and I will greatly miss him.
