Obituary of Gertrude M. Steiner
Gertrude M. "Ruth" Steiner, 97, of Orange, NJ, peacefully passed away, due to complications from Covid-19, on Friday, April 17, 2020 at Green Hill Senior Living Community in West Orange, NJ.
Born in Garwood, NJ, she lived most of her life in West Orange and Orange.
Ruth retired in 1982 from Westinghouse Electric Corp. in Bloomfield, where many of her co-workers became life-long friends.
She was well known for her sense of humor and quick wit. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Valley for 80 years where she was active in the Health & Wellness Ministry and in her earlier years belonged to the church choir.
She was predeceased by her parents, Katherine (Huss) and John Steiner, sister, Alma (Robert, Sr.) Heinis and brother, William O. Steiner, Sr., all of whom she loved and adored.
She is survived by her loving and devoted sister, Frances Steiner; beloved niece, nephews and their families, Karen & Christopher Urry, Robert & Kathleen Heinis, Kenneth & Nadine Heinis, James & Maureen Heinis, William & Laura Steiner and John & Marbella Steiner.
She was blessed with 21 grand nieces and nephews and 12 great grand nieces and nephews.
Ruth cherished the many happy times she shared with her family.
Arrangements were in care of the Codey & Jones Funeral Home and a private interment was held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ, please visit www.codeyjonesfh.com to share a memory with the family. When we can all safely gather a Memorial Mass and Celebration of her life will be held.
