Obituary of Christine P. DiGangi

Christine Prestifilippo DiGangi, of Caldwell, NJ, passed away on March 16, 2021 at home surrounded by her family, following a brief illness, just shy of her 94th birthday. Christine was born in 1927 in New York, NY to Agostino and Josephine Prestifilippo. She grew up in Caldwell and graduated from Grover Cleveland High School. Christine earned her Bachelor's degree from Montclair State Teachers College. She taught at Lincoln School in Caldwell, which she also attended as a young girl. Christine met Franco DiGangi at a family gathering in Cerami, Sicily and they married two years later in 1956 at St. Aloysius Church in Caldwell. Christine was an active member of the Caldwell Women's Club, the Caldwell Playcrafters and the Madonna della Lavina Society. A skilled bocce player Christine enjoyed playing in the local league with her husband. Christine is survived by her beloved husband, Franco DiGangi of 65 years; her sons, Jeffrey A. DiGangi, and Mario M. DiGangi Phd and his husband, John Antosca. Private services were provided by Codey & Jones Funeral Home of Caldwell. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30am on Monday, April 5th at St. Aloysius R.C. Church, 219 Bloomfield Ave., Caldwell. To share a condolence please visit www.codeyjonesfh.com.
