Obituary of Anita V. McKeon
Fashion Consultant; devoted to family, faith and kindness.
Anita V. McKeon (nee Monzo), 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. She was married to her high school sweetheart, John F. McKeon, for 45 years before his passing in 2002. She was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Lita (Africano) Monzo and her sisters, Diana Swenson and Lorraine Pepe.
Born in 1931 and raised in Montclair, she was an alumnus of Immaculate Conception High School. She began her career at the prestigious Bab Shop, before spending many years as a devoted stay-at-home mother. She returned to the workforce and became Manager of Natalie’s Fashion Gallery and later at Helen Hirsch Boutique where she remained until her retirement at age 80. She loved to cook for her family and tend to the rose garden. She had a way of making everyone feel special and adored her ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Anita is survived by her sister, Janet Siudmak, her four children and their spouses, Assemblyman John (Ann) McKeon, Mary Lee (Marc) Albanese, Alfred (Lisa) McKeon, Alba (Gary) Peterson, her adoring grandchildren, Lacey (Steven) Rockefeller, Melissa McKeon, Jaclyn McKeon, Marc (Lauren) Albanese, Ted (Chelsea) Albanese, Tyler Albanese, Alexa McKeon, A.J. McKeon, Matthew McKeon and Carly Peterson; and great grandchildren, Grace, Jack and Beatrice, along with beloved nieces and nephews.
She leaves a legacy of strong family values, kindness, empathy as well as a lifetime of wisdom and love. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to the West Orange Scholarship Fund c/o J. Quinn, 23 Witte Place, West Orange, NJ 07052.
A Mass celebrating her life will take place on Thursday, May 27th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Church in Livingston. A livestream of Mass will also be provided - https://meet.google.com/dbi-fxmu-bcs
