Obituary of Dorothy Louise Taylor Kwabi

Dorothy Louise Taylor Kwabi, departed her loving family on January 6, 2022 at age 96.

Dottie, as she was affectionately called, was born in Harlem, NY in 1925 to Lillian Harris Taylor and Castle Armstead Taylor.

She was mother to Christopher Kwaku Kwabi and Dean Kwesi Osie Kwabi (deceased). She raised her children with love and devotion in Accra, Ghana with her husband Augustus Kwabena Ntow Kwabi (deceased). 

She is survived by her sister, Catherine “Cookie” Winn; her son, Christopher Kwabi; her grandchildren, Jesse Kwabi, Reese-Marie Kwabi, Kwesi N. Kwabi and Candy Kwabi; nieces and nephews, Edward Johnson, Karen Johnson, LaVerne Johnson, Paula Johnson, Guy Johnson, Audrey Winn, and Stephanie Winn; her cousin, Donald Harris; daughter-in-law, Catherine Likimani; her husband’s niece, Rosamund Atta-Fynn and a host of other family and friends.

Services will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, NY on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at 10:00am for the viewing and 11:00am for the funeral service. 

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Castle Taylor Scholarship Fund, a scholarship fund set up at Macedonia, in honor of her father, can be made in her name. Macedonia Baptist Church, 141 S. 9th Ave, Mount Vernon, NY 10550, (914) 667-2333
