Obituary of Marie A. Ferrera

Marie A. Ferrera, 94, longtime resident of West Caldwell, NJ, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Marie was born in Newark, NJ to her parents, Frank and Teresa (Moscaritola) Spadone and graduated from Central High School in Newark. She met Raymond J. Ferrera on a blind date and they married in 1952. The family moved to West Caldwell in 1963 and lived on Ravine Avenue up until recently.

Marie's career as a movie theater employee began at the ticket window and ended with her becoming one of the first women theater managers in the area.

Marie was a wonderful cook. On any given Sunday morning you could smell the enticing aroma of her homemade gravy and meatballs. Her love of music was boundless. She loved all the classic crooners of her time, especially her idols, Frank Sinatra and Glenn Miller.

Marie is survived by her beloved husband, Raymond; her daughter, Teresa; her sons, Raymond M., Louis, and Stephen; and her grandchildren, Christina, Jacqueline, Sam, Denali, Myles, Sophia, and Elliot.

She taught her children to work hard, and to always love and respect one another. She will be dearly missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 23rd at 10:30AM in St. Aloysius R.C. Church in Caldwell, followed by interment at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, October 22nd from 2:00PM to 5:00PM at Codey Funeral Home of Caldwell.
