Obituary of Patricia Mathieson
Patricia Mathieson, 75, of Caldwell, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Pattie was born in Queens, NY to Accursio “August” and Domicella “Sally” (nee Seckus) Bono and she grew up in Ozone Park. She graduated from John Adams High School in Queens in 1965, then worked as a secretary in a variety of companies in downtown Manhattan around Battery Park. After moving to New Jersey later in life, she worked in international shipping operations for Reefer Express Lines for many years.
Pattie and her husband, Rich, raised their family in New Jersey, where she worked as a library assistant at the Caldwell Public Library for over 20 years, continuing to volunteer there in retirement. Pattie was known for being the kindest, most compassionate, selfless person in work and life, while simultaneously caring and advocating for her husband through a 12 year battle with dementia. Pattie will be remembered as an endlessly loving mom to her three children and adored dog, Delta, who were equally devoted to her.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Rich, just this past September. Pattie is survived by her cherished children, Douglas and his wife, Jamie; Kristine and her husband, Jeff; and Genna; her adoring granddaughters, Henley & Andie with another granddaughter on the way, to be named in her honor.
Visitation will be held at Codey Funeral Home of Caldwell on Tuesday, November 28th, from 3:00 - 7:00pm, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Roseland on Wednesday, November 29th at 11:00am.
