Dear Cyndi,
I have fond memories of your dad cooking steaks when I visited you way back in the early 1980's. A lovely man.
So sorry for your loss and that I am only seeing this now.
Love, Nigel

Cindy, I'm so sorry to hear about John's passing. I apologize for the late delay but I just got into John's email and saw the note from Elna.
I remember your father was very patient with me when I first returned from Australia. He loved geology and spent hours looking at slides with me. And I mean hours. He was the only person who was really interested in my pictures and we spent many, many lovely afternoons and evenings together. He was a real gentleman -- as was your brother. I loved them both dearly and they will forever be in my heart and mind.
Deepest condolences,
Liz

Dear Auntie Gloria, Cindy and Family,
Condolences on the passing of Uncle John. I will remember having conversations with him concerning aviation and airports, since my military career was in Naval Aviation. He was a very intelligent man and he taught me about the history of the U.S. railway system and of the older California roadways. I'm glad we had the opportunity to fly out to NJ to visit him last week, although little did we know he would pass a week after we departed. He will be sorely missed.

I will always remember Uncle John and how he took the time to take me to the San Diego Railway Station to share his passion for trains. We must have spent the whole day there. However, after that, I had a renewed appreciation for trains and would always think of him whenever I passed by one or even rode on one. His passion was contagious.
Uncle John had a kind and gentle heart. When I was in college, he would always ask me how I was doing in school. When I would share any doubts and worries, he would always offer encouraging words.
My condolences to you Auntie Gloria, Cindy, and Julia. Uncle John made an impact in this world, I know he did in mine. My prayers and thoughts are with you all.

Gloria and Cynthia,
Our deepest condolences on the passing of your husband and father. I had the good fortune to work with John at the National Park Service, Denver Service Center in the early 1980s. Like the professor he was, he taught me a great deal about oceanic engineering, which we put to use when designing the rehabilitation of the Great Kills seawall on Staten Island.
He was greatly respected and liked by all.
We enjoyed John and Gloria's visits to Denver after his retirement. Unfortunately the trips weren't frequent enough in the past few years and we lost touch. However John touched our lives professionally and personally and we'll miss his invigorating persona and spirit for life.
May fond memories of John sustain you during this difficult time and God bless you.
Love,
Terry and Bobbi Wong
