Obituary of Florence G. Hosley

Florence G. Hosley, 92, of Fairfield, NJ, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014. A Memorial Service will be held in the Codey & Jones Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave., Caldwell, NJ 07006 on Saturday, January 3 at 12 Noon. To extend condolences or share a memory, please visit www.codeyjonesfh.com. Florence was born in Wilkes Barre, PA to her parents James and Ruth Gordon. She moved with her family to N.J. as a child and lived for many years in East Orange, then Belleville before moving to West Caldwell in 2008. In 2011 she moved to Sunrise of West Essex in Fairfield. Although she worked as a Secretary for the Mutual Benefit Insurance Co. for ten years until 1950, she spent most of her adult life as a devoted mother and homemaker. She will be remembered as a thoughtful, kind and "classy lady" with a sharp wit and ready smile. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. She was also an active member of Fewsmith Memorial Presbyterian Church in Belleville for many years. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Robert A. Hosley in 2008, and her sisters, Jeanne Krauss and Ruth Oelschlaeger. Surviving are her children, daughter, Ann Pender and son-in-law John Pender, of West Caldwell, and daughter, Lynn Hosley, of Georgia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and family friends.
