Debbie was one of the sweetest women to join the Canal Society of New Jersey within recent years. She gave us so much of her time and energy.
She was the darling of Canal Society program meetings, feeding all who attended with her wholesome and delicious hot meals. Thus, Debbie was a little lady with great impact, changing the way we do program meetings from light snacks to real food. And her leftover Christmas cookies were always welcome at January board meetings!
Debbie was also a wonder at the front gate at Waterloo, where her enthusiasm for the site was contagious. We’ve missed her the past couple of years, but will always remember her welcoming smile and passion for whatever she was doing.
My sincere condolences to Lew, their children and grandchildren, and all who knew her.

Dear Lew, Larry and Lauren and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Debbie, Barbara and I were friends from 6th grade when Debbie moved to Verona. I am happy I got to spend time with you several years ago. There are so many memories. One stands out. Learning to drive stick shift in Lew's Simca. That poor bucking car. I know you will all carry her in your hearts. All love, light and prayers, Lyn Cross

Our senior year of high school my sister allowed me to drive her little red VW convertible to school. In my yearbook Debbie wrote, "May all the little red VW's follow you across the globe". Ironically when my own daughter was a junior in high school we purchased an old 1970 VW which we restored, painted red, and my daughter drove it her senior year in high school. When my daughter went off to college I printed pillow cases with lady bugs and wrote along the border, "May all the little red VW's follow you across the globe." And while Debbie will forever be frozen in my memory in 1967 she obviously left an impression. My deepest sympathy to her loved ones.

When I think of Deb, I am bathed in sunshine; her smile was one of the most uplifting experiences I’ve ever had. I remember the ‘brief’ visit I paid her in the hospital. We laughed and shared stories of our kids and such; before we knew it two hours had zipped by. Both Michael and I love Deb and will hold her in our hearts forever.

Debbie was one of the kindest and caring person I have ever known. She glowed when she talked to you. She gave incredible hugs! Debbie did love to cook and bake and was so generous with her talents. I have fond memories of the Christmas dinner party with a tree literally in every room. Debbie always had a positive outlook and a smile I will always remember! Heaven has gained a beautiful soul! I will always miss her.

I remember those Christmas Eve meals together with our families. When we went to Debbie and Lee’s home we’d enjoy a winter wonderland of Christmas trees as we sat to eat a feast prepared with love by Debbie.
A beautiful woman who exhibited love in so many ways.
She can now enjoy God’s promise for a heavenly home .

Deb's heart was one of the biggest I have ever known. I now have a hole in my heart without her that I will fill with her smiles, kindness, gentle giving and all her delicious food. I cherish the stain glass work she made for me.
My thoughts, love and prayers to Lew, Larry, Laurel and family. Deb made us all feel special and loved...I am honored to have had her in my life.
