Obituary of Robert David Jacunski

Reverend Robert David Jacunski Reverend Robert David Jacunski, 84, of Caldwell, NJ, passed away on Monday, January, 19, 2015 at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, NJ. All are invited for the celebration of Father Bob's life at St. Aloysius R.C. Church, 219 Bloomfield Avenue, Caldwell, NJ starting with visitation on Friday, January 23, 2015 from 3:00 – 7:30 pm, with the Office of the Dead being prayed at 7:30pm. There will also be a visitation on Saturday, January 24, 2015 from 9:00 – 10:00 am with a Mass of Christian Burial being offered at 10:30 am. The interment will follow at Mt. Robert was born and raised in Bloomfield, NJ by his parents, William and Josephine Jacunski. He graduated from Seton Hall Preparatory School, Seton Hall College and Immaculate Conception Seminary. He was ordained as a Roman Catholic Priest on May 26, 1956. He served as a priest for 47 years in several parishes in the Archdiocese of Newark; St. Stanislaus in Newark from 1956-1975, St. Valentines in Bloomfield from 1975-1983 and St. Aloysius in Caldwell from 1983 -2002. In addition to being a devout priest he was culinary expert and was as gracious in the kitchen as he was at the altar. Surviving are his sister-in-laws, Agnes Jacunski and Suzanne Jacunski; nephews, with their wives and children, Bill and Rena Jacunski, Matt and Betsy Jacunski, Mark and Rebecca Jacunski, John and Karla Jacunski, Paul Jacunski and his friend, Jennifer Ziehl, Don and Judy Skwar; a niece and children, Linda Worster; close family friends, Tom, Gina and Wendy Dorrity. He was predeceased by his brothers, Alfred and Mamert Jacunski; a sister, Irene Skwar; and a nephew Tom Skwar. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital would be appreciated.
